Mazda 3 Review
The Mazda 3 is a stylish and funky hatchback with bags of technical innovation for the motorist that doesn’t want to trade sportiness for practicality. Retaining excellent space and flexibility, the Mazda 3 offers sensational performance and a truly dynamic driving experience, while retaining class-leading fuel economy and performance well beyond current emissions regulations.
Similar to the Mazda 2, the Mazda 3 is energetically styled, calling on Mazda’s glittering sportscar history for its headturning design cues. Inside though, Mazda’s engineers have created an impressive amount of space adding a truly premium feel to the cabin as well.
Available as a practical five door, the Mazda 3 will comfortably seat five people – and with a 350 litre boot and 60/40 folding rear seats, Mazda’s compact premium-feel hatch will comfortably swallow all their luggage too. Air conditioning and iPod compatibility also come as standard.
Refinement is excellent. Thanks to Mazda engineers' outstanding attention to detail, the 3 offers a superbly quiet ride with amazing levels of noise insulation for a hatchback. Coupled to the Mazda 3’s best-in-class aerodynamics, the 3 also produces a lowly 115g/km CO2 from its punchy 115hp 1.6-litre diesel – meaning annual road tax comes in at just £35 – and returns an amazing 64.2mpg.
A range of other engines is available, from Mazda’s nippy 104hp 1.6-litre petrol to a super-torquey 182hp, 295lb ft 2.2-litre diesel that still returns an outstanding 62.8mpg.
The Mazda 3 is very safe with a full five star safety rating awarded by Euro NCAP. Equipped with six airbags and active front headrests as standard, the Mazda3 provides exceptional occupant protection in the event of a crash. All models come with ABS, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control as standard as well as ISOFIX child seat fixing points. With remote central locking and an alarm with immobiliser on all models, Mazda has taken care of security too.
The Mazda 3 is a funky but frugal hatchback that will deliver miles of driving pleasure, all supported by a 3 year warranty. Check out the full range at T W White & Sons today.
